Procedure: Gastric Sleeve

In High school I was an athlete. I had a great physique, toned, fit, active. But after high school I stopped being active, fell in to some bad relationships gave birth to my daughter and potentially gained 180lbs over the course of 10 years. One day I saw my daughter looking at a very obese woman and then she looked at me and said is that going to be you soon? I was devastated. She had this look of disgust on her face and I didn’t want her to think of me as disgusting. A lady at my job had recently had the sleeve and let me know that our insurance would cover it. I called without speaking to my family first. I met with DFW Bariatrics and decided on the sleeve. I was told my insurance required a 6 month course before surgery and I was crushed. I know it had been 10 years of me being over weight and what’s 6 more months but I was ready! I did the 6 month course and had my surgery on October 29 2013. At 1st the weight was falling off. But I began to lose only one or two pounds a month and became discouraged. When I followed up with the office at DFW Bariatrics they said I was doing great! Now I’m 90lbs down have done three 5k’s wear the same size shirt as my daughter and can wear normal size boots!! No more extended calf!! I’m still working on myself and would like to lose another 60lbs but I am happy and feel and. This is not an easy fix! It’s a tool to help you in your journey. The hard part is still up to you. You have to eat right. And you have to exercise. I thank the team of experts at DFW Bariatrics for giving me MY life back!
