Procedure: Gastric Sleeve

I think I’m just like everyone else. I had worked out at a gym but didn’t control my diet OR I’d be doing weight watchers or some other plan and couldn’t get the exercise going. Seemed like I wasn’t successful at doing both at the same time. When I first checked into weight loss surgery, it was about 7 years ago. I kept thinking, I should be able to do this without surgery. I guess I thought it was cheating. Turns out I was so wrong. It is just a tool to help. By helping in the eating area, I could focus more on the working out. I never intended to work into jogging, it just progressed as the walking fast became a shuffle, and before I knew it I was jogging. 5ks, then 10ks, a 15k, then a 1/2 marathon! Then biking entered the agenda. After several bike rallies, the longest being 46 miles, I thought well, maybe I’ll try a triathlon? I found a “mini” triathlon called the Spa Girl Tri, 300 meters swimming, 10 miles biking, and 2 mile run. I finished in 1 hr. So now I’ve signed up for my 1st Sprint triathlon this October. I’m also signed up for ten 5k’s this summer, three 10k, and one 1/2 marathon on New Years Eve! I’ll begin next year off with a 1/2 marathon on New Year’s Day , that back to back 1/2 marathons on the 31st and the 1st! I just can’t believe the changes in my life in just a year. I wish I had made the decision to have the sleeve surgery sooner! I’m have So much fun and enjoying life like I never have. So thankful to the entire DFW Bariatrics team for their support and encouragement.
