Procedure: Gastric Sleeve

Total Weight Lost: 80 pounds

My Story: My eye opening moment: walking from the bedroom to the kitchen and back to the bedroom and being out of breath and heart racing. It was at that point in time I decided I needed to take my life back. I had no exercise routine, and snacked all the time. Once I decided to take my life back I decided to go see a doctor at DFW Bariatrics. It was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

I have taken my life back and enjoy getting out with my kids and family more. I am a slow loser, so the weight did not just fall off. I have had to work and workout – and even enjoy working out now. I changed my eating habits and to date I’m down 80 lbs. I now can enjoy the things in life I was to tired to enjoy before. Surgery is not a solution to being over weight; it was a tool to help me head in the right direction of a healthy life and good life style.

One thing I have learned is losing weight is mental just as much as physical. You have to retrain your thought process of food and when your hungry and what food choices to make. But once I figured that out, by far the best decision was for me to take my life back in control. And now I get more compliments than I have ever in my life. I have been able to lower my depression medication with hopes of in the future to be able to stop taking my depression medicine. I have been able to stop taking my anxiety medication as well since losing weight. So if you’re thinking about having weight loss surgery it’s by far not “the easy way out,” it’s a journey the entire way.
