Procedure: Gastric Sleeve

Weight Lost: 100 lbs.

My Story: Before weight loss surgery, I was 242 lbs, I was tired, in pain and sad. I was limited to the stores I could shop at and activities I could enjoy. I have a small son and the only thing I could do with him was go for a short walk. I am even sad to say that I drove to his school to pick him up, less than 1 block away.

I had the Gastric Sleeve on 1/17/2011. I feel reborn, I am active, full of energy, motivation and happiness. This has been the best decision I have ever made, a selfish decision, because I didn’t do it for my family but mainly for me. I wanted to cross my legs and wear nice clothes. I wanted to feel like a woman again.

My life is so different right now, I was wearing a size 22, now I am a size 4. I weigh 142 lbs. I wake up with no pain, I am not panting when I get out of the shower anymore and I feel people notice me more.

My son and I enjoy long walks outside now and we finished our first 5k one month ago. Life looks brighter and brighter every day. This has been such a positive experience, that my husband just had his gastric sleeve surgery by the team at DFW Bariatrics, in March of 2012, he lost over 40 lbs. in the first few months and is doing great. Hopefully we will start running marathons as a family soon.

I feel like I have limitless energy and best of all, I feel great.
