5 Tips to Keep Your Halloween Healthy

5-tips-for-a-healthy-halloween

1. Avoid Skipping Meals

Skipping meals can ultimately cause you to take in more candy than planned due to low blood sugars.

2. Make Halloween a Physical Activity Event

Don’t miss a great opportunity to get your exercise in. Make a family game plan to walk to as many houses as you can!

3. Avoid Treat Temptations

If you are handing out candy, chew on sugar-free gum/mints. If you have a piece of candy, use mouth wash to get the taste out of your mouth to prevent the temptation of reaching for another tempting treat.

4. Moderation is Key

After Halloween night, have your children select 5 pieces of their favorite candy! Then pair the piece of candy with a healthy snack (cheese stick, piece of fruit/vegetable, yogurt) each day of the week. Donate the rest of the candy to prevent temptation and decrease cavities in children!

5. Have Fun

Most importantly, enjoy the night with your family!
